Privacy policy
This policy explains how DevTune Solutions Inc. (“DevTune”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares, keeps and deletes personal information. It applies to devtune.com, our web applications, and the mobile apps we publish on the App Store and Google Play (together, the “Services”). We comply with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
How our apps and accounts work
Our mobile apps are companions to our web applications. When you sign in to a mobile app, you use the same account as on the web, and your data is stored with that account on our servers, not only on your device. This is why uninstalling a mobile app doesn’t delete your account or your data. SeeHow long we keep information.
Information we collect
- Account information: your name, email address, password (stored only in hashed form) and account settings.
- Content you add: information you enter or upload while using the Services.
- Payment information: purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple, Google or our payment processor. We receive confirmation of the transaction, but never your full card number.
- Technical information: IP address, device and browser type, app version, and logs of errors and requests, which we use to run the Services and keep them secure.
- Support messages: what you send us through the contact form or in-app support, including your name, email address and message.
We collect only what we need for the purposes below. Each app’s App Store privacy details and Google Play data safety section describe what that app collects.
How we use it
- To create and manage your account and provide the Services.
- To process purchases and subscriptions.
- To answer support requests and send messages about your account, such as security alerts.
- To maintain, secure and improve the Services, and to prevent fraud and abuse.
- To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We use your information only with your consent, which you give by creating an account or contacting us, or as the law permits. We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t use it for third-party advertising.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers that help us operate the Services. They must protect it and may use it only to provide their service to us:
- OVHcloud hosts the servers and databases that run our web applications.
- Cloudflare provides our website hosting, network security, spam protection and email delivery.
- Apple and Google distribute our mobile apps and process in-app purchases.
- Payment processors handle payments made outside the app stores.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety or property of our users or others.
Where it is stored
Our application data is stored on OVHcloud servers. Cloudflare, Apple, Google and our payment processors may process information in other countries, including the United States. Outside Canada, information is subject to local laws and may be accessible to authorities under those laws.
How long we keep information
- While your account is open, we keep your account information and content so the Services work on all your devices.
- Uninstalling or deleting a mobile app removes the app from your device. It doesn’t close your account or delete the data stored with it. You can reinstall the app and sign in again at any time.
- Closing your account deletes your data. You can close your account in the app’s account settings or in your account settings on the web application. You can also ask us to close it through our contact form; see Delete your accountfor the steps. Within 30 days of closing, we delete your account information and content, or anonymize it so it can no longer identify you.
- Backups: deleted data may stay in encrypted backups for up to 90 more days, until those backups are overwritten. We don’t restore deleted accounts from backups.
- Records we must keep: after you close your account, we keep only the records the law requires or permits. This includes transaction and billing records, which Canadian tax law requires us to keep for six years. We also keep information needed to resolve disputes, enforce our terms or prevent fraud, and only as long as that need lasts.
- Support and contact messages are kept for up to two years after the conversation ends.
- Technical logs are kept for up to 90 days, unless we need them longer to investigate a security issue.
If we have used your personal information to make a decision about you, we keep it for at least one year after that decision, so you have a chance to access it, as BC law requires.
Security
We protect personal information with encryption in transit, access controls, and other safeguards that match its sensitivity. No system is completely secure. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm, we’ll notify you and the Privacy Commissioner as the law requires.
Cookies
devtune.com uses only the cookies needed for the site and for spam protection on the contact form (Cloudflare Turnstile). We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies. Our web applications use cookies to keep you signed in.
Children
The Services aren’t directed to children under 13 unless an app’s store listing says otherwise. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without a parent’s or guardian’s consent. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- give you access to the personal information we hold about you;
- correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- close your account and delete your information, subject to the records we must keep;
- withdraw your consent. Some Services may then no longer work for you.
Send your request through our contact form and choose “Privacy request” as the topic. We may need to confirm your identity first. We respond within 30 days. If you live outside Canada, you may have additional rights under local law, and we’ll honour them where they apply.
If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Accountability
We have a privacy officer who is responsible for our compliance with this policy. You can reach them through our contact form; choose “Privacy request” as the topic.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we’ll change the effective date above. If a change significantly affects how we use your information, we’ll tell you in the Services or by email before it takes effect.
